Course Description
This workshop is designed to
promote awareness, understanding and treatment of the human myofascial system.
The instruction is a progressive hands on approach both on land and in the
pool. The aquatic myofascial techniques have a systematic application for
treatment. The therapist will learn skills to observe, feel, and mobilize
restricted tissue using aquatic techniques that are painless and promote
increased circulation of blood and fluids, thus increasing tissue elasticity
and joint mobility.
Course Objectives
·
Water Massage &
Myofascial Release
·
Exploring the unwinding
process through known aquatic techniques.
·
Therapists will
demonstrate knowledge and the use of, turbulence, vibration, aquatic elongation
and stretch techniques, buoyancy-assisted release, and buoyancy-resisted
release.
·
Study the effects of
using immersion to assist in diagnosis and trace the pathways of myofacial
disturbances in the body.
·
Patient positioning and
therapist contact to promote relaxation and tissue awareness.
·
Hands on instruction in
a warm water pool to learn and practice direct and indirect massage techniques
specifically adapted for use in aquatic therapy.
·
Through hands on course
study, the therapist can practice and refine their own propioceptive skills to
gain more information from contact with their clients.
